  • Hi, I’m Leah! When I was young, I thought it would be cool to be a photographer someday, but never thought that dream would ever come to fruition. While going to college at the University of Minnesota, I had more and more opportunities to shoot photos professionally and really started to fall in love with it. Even though I was studying Psychology, I couldn’t stay away from pursuing photography in my free time. As Jonny and I started to shoot more weddings together we really loved it, but couldn’t believe it would ever work to do this full-time but here we are!

    When I’m not shooting weddings, my favorite things to shoot are families and seniors. These shoots are always so special and I love capturing these special moments and milestones for families.

    When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me listening to Taylor Swift, making some kind of craft, or squeezing our dog, Teddy.

  • Hi, I’m Jonathan! From a young age, I loved making videos, and I’ve done it as long as I can remember. In high school, I learned more about cameras and developed a passion for both videography and photography. I then went on to the University of Minnesota to study Marketing & Business, but never stopped shooting photos & video along the way. I can confidently say that I’m living the dream being married to Leah and working as a full-time photographer/videographer.

    When I’m not shooting weddings, my favorite thing to shoot is creative video projects for small businesses or passion projects with friends! I love being able to let creativity run free and think outside the box.

    When I’m not working you’ll probably find me watching the Vikings, taking Teddy on a walk, or grilling.

Hi there! We are Jonathan & Leah Lassen, the “J & L” behind Weddings by J & L!

We started shooting weddings together while dating in college at the University of Minnesota. We loved capturing couples’ wedding days and never dreamed that we’d get to do this full-time as a married couple ourselves. After college, we trusted God and made the leap to shooting full-time, and haven’t looked back ever since!

As a husband & wife team, we get it. We know the many highs and lows of wedding planning and all the stress that comes as the big day nears. Our ultimate goal is to be one less thing that you have to think about on your wedding day. We want you to just enjoy your wedding day with loved ones and not have to worry about if it is being captured. Your memories of the day should be the love and laughter with friends and family, not your photographer and/or videographer. We believe in capturing the real raw emotions and unprompted moments throughout the day that tell your story. We also want our couples to feel like they are working with friends who truly care about their wedding day. Our goal is to become your go-to photographer/videographer for all future milestones and celebrations, creating a lifelong partnership built on trust and shared memories.
